Canberra, Thank You For A Lovely Weekend…

Last weekend we had a lovely time exploring and researching our soon to be new hometown. Here’s few picks to sum up the joy we found…

I have to admit to forgetting my camera on a couple of occasions so some things weren’t captured on film so to speak…like my perfect manicure at Zaija, beautiful brekkies, a to-die-for dinner at the Artisan, a walk along Lake Burley Griffin after visiting the Old Bus Depot Markets, Manuka cafes, shopping and I’m sure much more that has slipped my mind from what was a non-stop weekend!

Leaping Out Of My Comfort Zone

Dream Big

Recently I took, not just a step, but a big leap out of my comfort zone.  I thought about all the ways I could fall and hurt myself, I had all the usual excuses, some valid some not and I still did it.

What did I do? you might be wondering…I enrolled in Marie Forleo’s B-School program.  Is that such a big deal I hear you ask?  Well, yes, for me it is.   It’s a huge step towards creating the life I want.  I’m as nervous as can be, I feel unsure and scared (almost to the point of tears at times!)  But the important thing is I’ve taken that step, made that commitment to myself.

Discomfort = Change = A better version of YOU!

It feels like such a big deal for me because while I’ve always done whatever I do to the absolute best of my ability,  I’ve never really taken the steps to stand out and shine or to become the very best version of me.  I’ve lacked confidence and believed I could never be in the same league as all those other gorgeous women out there – my “real life” friends (you know who you are lovelies) and those I follow online (you may also know who you are!…see below for some examples!).

However, lately my inner voice has been nagging me to put myself out there more.  To feel the fear and do it anyway!!!  It hasn’t happened overnight though, it’s been a gradual process to get to this point where I can be brave enough to enrol in B-school and to publish this post!  In the last 10 years I’ve moved states, made new lifetime friends, opened a business, developed an organic product line, started this blog and I’m about to make another big move interstate.  All these things have helped me build my confidence, as well as having the most supportive husband I could ever wish for.

So if you’re reading this and think you can’t do it, think again.  YOU CAN DO IT!  I was once the girl who barely spoke at a social occasion, so if I can do it there is no reason why you can’t.  Don’t worry about all those successful people who are already killing it…they are there for inspiration and most of them will offer you help if you dare to ask!  Go for dreams, allow yourself to be passionate, love what you’re doing and live it to the fullest.  These words are just as much for me as they are for you!

B-School hasn’t even officially begun and I’ve already met the most inspiring women of all ages who are taking that next step in creating and expanding their dream life.  They are from all backgrounds and ages…you’re never to young or too old to start!

I’m not writing this post to encourage you to join B-School although you really should check it out to see if it’s for you! (enrolments close on the 4th March).  I’m writing it to improve my courage and confidence and hopefully help give you a push towards doing the same!

If you do happen to be interested in B-School these beautiful ladies have some fantastic deals if you sign up through them.  By the way, they haven’t asked me to promote them and I don’t receive anything in return.  I just love what these girls do on a daily basis.  I decided to sign up through Path To Wellness because I get the chance to win a scholarship to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, which I am hanging out so badly to do!  Cross your finger and toes for me 🙂

Whatever you’re doing, remember to enjoy the ride!

To Me, With Love

On this, the eve of Valentines Day…a day that I don’t personally pay much attention to, but it is a nice reminder to give thanks for all the love in my life…and a great excuse to buy a gorgeous new dress, but that’s another story!  I thought it would be nice to share 5 things I’m giving me to bring more love and happiness into my life.

I give to me

  1. Meditating:  to calm and balance, clear my mind and rest my body.
  2. Green Juicin’: to nourish my body, to improve my health and energy.
  3. Getting Outside: walking in the afternoon sunshine, breathing in nature.
  4. Time Out: to relax and de-stress, revive and rejuvenate.
  5. Being kind to me: to make myself feel great and positive and worthwhile and loved and super grateful!

What are you giving you?  Every time you give yourself something good, every time you put yourself first, you are encouraging self-love and the more self love you have the better you can look after yourself which means you can better look after your family and friends, your business and all the things that are important to you.  And ultimately everything will flourish.  That makes perfect sense right?  So from now on give to you, with love!

Four Clear Intentions and Visions for 2013

Let's make magic!

The beginning of a new year always brings with it a feeling of positivity, hope, new aspirations, dream-setting and inspiration to fulfill those dreams.  A sense of being able to make magic happen.  The time to set some intentions and visions for the upcoming twelve months.  Much better than new years resolutions don’t you think?

As I said last year I’d much rather put together some little ways to improve my everyday life.  Make some changes to bring more love, laughter and joy to my days and to those I share my life with.

I thought it was about time to get this years intentions and visions out there…this post has been floating around in my head, on my laptop, in Evernote for a while now!

I’m certain that this year is going to bring together a lot of things Andrew and I have been working on in 2012…it’s exciting, it’s scary, it’s invigorating!!!!  A brand new chapter is about to begin.  In case you missed the huge news, we’re moving interstate!  All in the name of wellbeing and creating a better life for ourselves!  What bigger vision is there?  Moving back to the city to create a more balanced life – who would have thought?!!! But, I’ll come back to that another day!

Last year it was all about…balance, calm and creativity and this year is a big extension of that…more balance, more calm, more creativity.

Really, it all comes down to wellbeing and lifestyle.  As I talked about in this post…juicing (green and any other), eating well, meditating, relaxing, loving me more.  Caring enough about myself to give me what I need to live a happy healthy life.  Being as kind to myself as I would to my best friend.  Filling up my cup first so I can be the best I can.

So with lots of changes on the way, I’m setting four clear but achievable intentions to get me through the transition and on my way to a bigger brighter future.

1. Wellbeing and Lifestyle….follow my 2013 Plan.

2. Balance…no matter how much you love your work, and sometimes I can’t believe how much I love mine, you still need time out to rejuvenate.  This last six months has been all work and little play so now I’ll be having weekends, spending time with Andrew and my friends. I’ll be surrounding myself with uplifting, positive, inspiring people.  There’ll be more laughter, more fun, more play.

3. Calm…. more inner calm through mindfulness, enjoying small (and big!) pleasures, breathing deeply and fully, focusing on the good things and enjoying time alone to recharge.

4. Creativity… continuing with my creative loves – this blog, clicking away on my camera, more maa organics product development and there’s an e-book somewhere inside me too.

How does that all sound to you?  What are your intentions and visions for 2013?  Do you have any big changes planned?  I’d love to hear what you have on your vision board for the year ahead.

I’ll be checking back to here as the year goes on to see how I’m going.  Right now I’m feeling positive and ready for all that 2013 is going to throw my way!

My 2013 Wellbeing and Lifestyle Plan

I’m really really really serious about improving my wellbeing and lifestyle this year.  So much so that I’m selling up and moving states!!!  What the???  Yes you heard right!  I was going to wait to tell you in a separate post but there it is, now you know!

Some of you may have heard me going on and on …and on …and possibly on some more about finishing off our beautiful house and finally we’re there, it’s done, well close enough anyway!  Still a few bits and pieces but the fat lady is almost singing!  Now the rain has stopped the camera will be out for some property shots…hello real estate dot com, look at us, here we are.

Yes, moving is the BIG one on the list of wellbeing and lifestyle changes for 2013.   I couldn’t really write this post without including it.  Lots of changes on the horizon.  However, it might take a little while to materialise, although I do have a vision of me in a long warm coat and boots warming my soul with a steaming hot cup of something delicious in one of Canberra’s many cafes this winter….but I digress!

While I excitedly wait for this new phase of my life to fall into place here’s some of the things I’m doing NOW to improve my wellbeing and lifestyle.

Juicing – fruit, veggies, greens galore + synergy super green powder + my Omega VRT 350 slow juicer. Love. Love. Love.  One of the fantastic things about my juicer is that you can juice and refrigerate for up to 72 hours without losing any of natures goodness.  I’m not a morning person AT ALL, so I’ve been juicing at night for the coming 2 – 3 days…easy and no excuses for missing my green juice in the mornings and a fruit and/or vegetable juice later in the day.

Green Juice

Eating for Health and Energy – my diet is pretty good most of the time, but I’m stepping it up a notch, fixing a few bad habits.  I’m eating enough. Eating fresh. Eating quality. Listening to my body and giving it what it needs. Balance. Healthy, nutrient dense meals and snacks.  Super foods. Organic.  Nourishing food I love and know is good for me.  I’m always on the lookout for new recipes and ideas so please feel free to share your faves with me…breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks.

Daily Meditation –  I love my newly found daily ritual of meditating.  I started last year but got out of the habit in December when I was sick for a couple of weeks.  Now, every night I do a 15 minute deep rest meditation.  It’s amazing how calming and grounding it is, it clears my mind and relaxes my body.  Yay, for a tension free me!  I’m promising myself a 30 minute weekly meditation too.  I’m sure I’m going to love it!!!

Exercise – this has been a difficult one for me the last two years, not because I don’t love it, I do, I just love the way I feel after exercise.  But I have been so low on energy and time, overdoing work and other things meant very little time left over.  This year I’m making time for the things that are important to me and being fit and feeling the benefits is definitely one of those things.  I’m not going to be silly about it, I’m making it achievable and enjoyable.  At least 30 minutes a day, that’s do-able right?!  A walk, or if the weather is bad (the wet season is always a good excuse not to go out), yoga.  I love yoga!  I’m so looking forward to a fitter me!  And I’m visualising longer walks and bike riding around Canberra soon,  the gorgeous lake and national parks…and running is in the back of mind too.  Whoaaa, hang on, one step at a time Dee!

Loving me – more ME time. Pratising what I preach.  Putting me first. Doing what makes me feel great!  Sleeping enough. Happy thoughts.  Reading books, blogs, magazines. Inspiring positive friendships.  Time in nature. Nourishing my body.  Nurturing my soul.  Aromatherapy. Organic face and body products. Regular massage.  Plus all of the above.  What a great combination for a great lifestyle.

created in pinwords

This is just a little summary of what I’m doing NOW.  I’ve made a Wellbeing and Lifestyle Weekly Planner.  It helps to keep me focused. It’s got handwritten notes all over it and will no doubt grow and change as the year passes us by.  I’m already feeling healthier and am sensing some of that good old energy and vitality starting to bubble away!  Woohoo, soon that face looking back at me in the mirror will be looking happier and healthier!

What about you?  What are you doing to create the lifestyle of vibrant health and wellbeing you deserve?  I’d love to hear from you, drop me a line or leave me a comment below.

Farewell 2012

Farewell 2012

Well here we are at the end of another year and what a freakin fantastic one it was.  There were a few difficult and tiring times that, of course, were sent to teach me something! But then there were so many wonderful moments to be grateful for, so many memories made and times to treasure.  So before I rush head on into the big beautiful new year of 2013, here’s a little list of just some of the things I’m truly thankful for…

Our January holiday:  a much needed rest at the beginning of the year got 2012 off to a great start.

Family:  good times with Andrew and my lovely furry babies, Sasha and Humphrey.  I know I don’t need to say it here but I couldn’t have gotten through this year without you!  And little phone catch ups with our families during the year.

Friendships: lots of laughs, dinners, drinks, coffee and catch ups with friends old and new.  I love you all…you know who you are 🙂

Tranquillity Zone:  a big thank you to all my clients for your support over the year, you are the ones that make what I do possible!  I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love!

maa organics: wow! what an exciting time, bringing together the first stage in my organic product range.  In January we launched our body products and some of our facial range.  In February a small range of luxury 100% pure essential oils and in June we completed the first stage of our facial range.  Lots more to come!!!!  In October we also submitted our Trademark application, looking forward to that coming through in 2013.  And in November we opened our Facebook shop – yay!  You’ll see some specials popping up there in 2013.

Dee’s Dialogue:  I love finding the time to write my blog…even if it is in bed with my laptop, typing into the wee hours.  Thank you for reading and all your comments, feedback, facebook likes and emails, you always brighten my day.

A mini mid year break & training course:  I’ve been wanting to learn Shirodhara for years now and finally I got to do it back in June.  I loved it! I have my lovely shiny copper pot ready to use and am working on getting a stand made for it.  I was lucky enough to combine this with a day in Sydney to catch up with friends and a few days of time out in Canberra.

Making big life changing decisions: I’ll be sharing more about this in the next few weeks, but needless to say it’s exciting and positive and scary and wonderful and thrilling and I am soooo looking forward to it!

Our home: finally after living here for four years we have almost finished our house.  There weren’t many weekends in the last 6 months that didn’t involve a paintbrush in hand and a very tired arm!  But we really are just about there.  It’s beautiful to look around and see it finished (almost)…no more bare skirting boards and door frames or unpainted office or unfinished deck etc etc.  We’re looking forward to weekends of rest and some time to enjoy it over the coming wet season!

The Total Solar Eclipse:  there’s gotta be a good reason to get me out of bed at 4am and this was it for 2012.  On the beach, capturing the amazing solar sky…so lucky to be living in this paradise!  If you haven’t already seen my photographs you can see them here and here.

December brought a nasty virus to our house:  Forced time out, not much work and things that we hoped would be done by the end of the year just couldn’t happen.  Life perhaps trying to tell us to slow down, listen to our bodies, take time out and be more realistic!

Christmas: decorating the tree, a lovely Christmas Eve dinner at our place with friends, Santa even left a few pressies this year!

2012, you’ve been delightful…friends, family, love, laughter, a beautiful home in a tropical paradise…what great times!   Thanks muchly 2012…I bid you farewell as I look forward to the coming year with eager excited anticipation ♡
