Hello all,

I just wanted to let you know I’m moving the blog over to my new maa organics website, which I’ve finally put aside some time to start on.  It’s a work in progress that will be evolving over the coming months.

You can still visit us here for all the old articles, but from here on in all new articles will be posted over at our new home.

Soooooo, coming up there’ll be more regular blogging about skincare, aromatherapy, lifestyle and wellbeing, food, special places and spaces and inspiration galore.  I’ll also be continuing to share the months treasures and roundup of posts.  Dee’s Delights is now going to become Gratitude Nine, a weekly collection of 9 things I’m loving –  words, photos and images of gratitude to warm your soul.  And some guest posts, starting with some inspiring women I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing.

So, pop on over and check out what we’re up to.

In Health and Happiness, Dee xxx

Dee’s Delights ~ edition 9

Welcome to my weekly round up of all things inspiring, enriching and absolutely delightful!  Here’s some things that have been making my soul sing this week…

Pebble Australia is one of the most gorgeous shops in Port Douglas.  So many pretty things, something for everyone.  Pop in next time you’re passing!

A day out in Cairns ~ for most of us who live in Port Douglas or further north a day in Cairns starts with a long totally unachievable list of things to do and just the thought of it makes you exhausted!!!  But this week Andrew and I decided to have a more leisurely afternoon and although it did include a visit to the dentist for Andrew we didn’t rush or set ourselves an unrealistic number of tasks!  And…..drumroll…I splurged on two dresses, yep you heard right TWO!!!!  WOOHOO, I wasn’t even looking for anything but I saw a lovely Wayne Cooper dress in Myer, not the usual sort of thing I’d wear but decided to try it on for fun and while I was there I thought I may as well try on a gorgeous Cue dress that was calling my name.  I’m a big Cue fan ~ I LOVE trying on things that just fit perfectly and Cue always does that! …..Now I need to find somewhere to wear them, perfect excuse to go out I say!

My bottle collecting for the table setting I talked about in edition 8 has surged ahead thanks to my wonderful friend Lynda from Funstuff by Lynda…she swears she didn’t drink all the bottles herself?!!  I believe her!!!  I’m looking forward to buying some heliconias for my tropical table setting…stay tuned for a pic next week!

Learning and Leisure ~ I love that I can combine the two!  I’m booked in to do a Shirodhara Course at the end of June and I can’t wait.  I’m so excited as I’ve wanted to learn this amazing technique for so long and have finally found somewhere to do it.  It means a trip to Sydney so Andrew and I are going to have a mini break together prior to the course.  Yippee!!!!  Now for some winter wardrobe planning…as much as I am not a cold weather person I do love a winter coat and high heel boots!!!

Thai Red Curry

Dinner with old friends…Nothing beats catching up with old friends for a drink, dinner and a laugh.

I love sharing my home and cooking for people I love.

Note to self to make time to do it more often.

Addicted to Aromatherapy

“There is nothing better than inhaling an aroma you love and feeling the effect through your entire body, it’s like coming home!” Dee

Aromatherapy has been a part of my life for a very long time.  The healing benefits of essential oils are amazing on both an emotional and a physical level.  If you’ve visited my blog before you may have already seen that I’ve written about Aromatherapy for Anxiety, Cooling Essential Oils,  My Aromatherapy Holiday Kit and Aromatherapy for Grief…and there will be more to come!   I use essential oils every day.  At the moment my favourites are Rosemary, Cypress, Geranium and Lime, but ask me tomorrow and I might tell you completely different ones.  That’s just one of the joys of aromatherapy ~ different essential oils enhance each day, depending on the energy surrounding you and what you need.  If you’d like to know more about it please let me know, I love sharing my passion!

Until next time..,let yourself be inspired, enriched & delighted by life and please leave me a comment below if you so desire.

Kate ~ writer, editor and sometimes photographer

My beautiful friend Kate has a life I’d be very envious of if I wasn’t happy with my own…actually if I’m totally honest I would like a little taste of her London city life every now and then!!!  Doing this interview with her brought back lots of memories…our friendship began 18 years ago (gulp!) while working in the same building in Chatswood (Sydney, Australia) and continued on from there…lots of great times!  Not to mention someones 21st!!  (but that’s another story).  Anyway, back to the interview…I wanted to feature her on my blog because she is a strong, intelligent, funny woman and a loyal friend who has always inspired me to expand my world and improve myself.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Well, my name is Kate. I was born in Sydney, but now live in London (by way of Japan, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Cameroon, Dubai, and India) with my half-French half-English husband and my cat, Goose.

I’ve been in London for three years this time around and I still find it intoxicating. I live centrally so there’s a world of culture, art, fashion, and history on my doorstep. I have family here and in France, which helps make me feel at home and grounded.

Goose

What or who inspires you?

My friends and my family inspire me the most, but I’m intrigued and influenced by lots of different people, whether I’ve met them in person, read about them in a book or fall in love with their work.

What are you passionate about?

Again, I’d have to say people. I have an insatiable curiosity for observing the human condition, which is a wanky way of saying that I’m a voyeur of sorts. I love how everyone is so different and am constantly fascinated by the way people navigate and make sense of their world. Quirks and idiosyncrasies and interactions. I’m never bored.

Books do it for me too. Novels, biographies, coffee table tomes. Anything goes. My shelves are literally all bendy and overflowing.

I know you’ve travelled a lot? What is your favourite place and why?

I get asked that a lot and I always struggle to answer. All of my favourite places are linked to experience. SCUBA diving off the coast of Madang (Papua New Guinea) with my future husband, visiting Paris with my sister, staying in a rambling old house in Tuscany with some of my best friends in the last week’s of summer, eating lobster in Greenport (Long Island, New York), listening to the most amazing 10-piece band at Le Senat in Doula (Cameroon) every Saturday night, sitting on the deck after a steaming summer’s day in Sydney and the first warning signs of the Southerly Buster. The list is endless, and deeply personal.

Tell us about your work.

I work as a writer, editor and sometimes photographer covering fashion, literature, beauty, wellbeing, travel, politics, food and photography. My work has appeared in lots of different publications, such as Time Out, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire and the like. I’m also co-writing a memoir with a singer and have written a novel.

i am not a celebrity

My blog i am not a celebrity keeps me busy too. I started it in 2010. I’d just moved from Dubai to London and wanted to keep myself writing while studying for my MA and building my network of contacts for freelancing work. What turned out to be a bit of fun has turned into something so much more. I have a steady following now and I love the interaction with my readers and the freedom of publishing what I want when I want. The blog has also afforded me some fantastic opportunities and I’ve met so many amazing people. I’m so grateful.

What do you most love about your job?

I’m never bored and constantly inspired. What more could I ask for?

Tell us all about the book you’ve written?  What is it about and where can we get a taste of it?

Ah, the book. It’s called Walking Distance. It’s about a young woman who runs away from her dying husband to look for an old lover and a new life in Papua New Guinea and a wrinkly old man who travels around The Outback making shoes, bedding women and causing trouble. Their lives are linked, but I’m not going to tell you how. That would be giving too much away. I’m in the process of choosing an agent, which is really exciting, but if you want to read an extract, you can find it here.

Of course, I’ve read the the extract from Kate’s first novel and I can’t wait to get my copy (signed, I hope!) when it’s published…I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s out.  Don’t forget to check out her blog too ~ I love it, especially Tumblr Tuesdays!

Well that ends another inspiring people post…a big thank you to Kate for being here. Until next time, let yourself be inspired, enriched & delighted by life.

Dee’s Delights ~ edition 5

Welcome, as always, to Dee’s Delights, a regular post where I share the things that have recently inspired, enriched & delighted me!  This is our 5th edition of delightful things!

Online delights

Blogs galore!!!  I can’t tell you how much I love finding new and inspiring blogs to bookmark.  Here are a just three of my new favourites that I’ve discovered since we last spoke…

Green Kitchen Stories is full of the most amazing healthy vegetarian recipes from a Swedish couple. They do have a green wall in their kitchen but the green refers to the fact that they love to use wholefoods and organic ingredients.  I’ve already got a few recipes lined up to try!

A Girl A Style by Miss B…she says that ”By day I stomp around Westminster as a political advisor; by night I indulge my wonderland fantasies of all things beautiful, delicious, fragrant and fashionable”.  This has become one of my regular blog stops, I just adore her images.

Sweet Lime and Spiced Tea from two girls – Claire and Jas – who love all things style: food, fashion, photography, graphic & interior design.  What a lovely discovery with lots of different things to read about.

Coffee Table Delights

At the moment I’m loving pretty books to look at and gain inspiration from. Here’s 3 new additons to my library.  I’ve been eagerly awaiting Vogue: The Covers since before Christmas (long story!), but in the meantime I’m enjoying browsing the pages of Interior Design Inspirations and Modern Vintage Style with much pleasure and joy!

Photographic delights

No new photos this week so I thought I’d share one of my beautiful puusycats who bring me so much joy…

Addicted to Juel

I’ve been working on my “Juel” collection for many years now, although the rate at which it expands has slowed down considerably since leaving Sydney and a relatively well paid job.  However, whenever I visit my hometown I am inexplicably drawn into the world of Elsa, Tegan and Beverley who are always eager to show me their latest designs.  In response I am only to happy to hand over my credit card!!!  In January I came away with the most beautiful bracelet adorned with a gorgeous selection of black, white and clear crystal gemstones.  It’s the perfect accessory to any outfit!

Visit their website or pop into their beautiful shop, they are located at 252 Darling Street Balmain (Sydney,  Australia).

Until next time..,let yourself be inspired, enriched & delighted by life and if you feel like sharing please leave a comment below.
