Dine And Wine at Harrisons Port Douglas

13 years of marriage warrants a pretty special night out don’t you think?…and we certainly weren’t disappointed with our choice of restaurant.  The service and the food were superb, not to mention the atmosphere.  I’m even willing to go out on a limb and say it was the best meal I’ve had in a Port Douglas.

The night kicked off with a glass of bubbly on a comfy lounge…is there a better way to begin a celebration?

Then we were taken to our table for two on the front verandah.  Harrisons is an open colonial style house with wide verandahs…perfect for a warm tropical night.

The entire menu was enticing and so hard to decide.

We were treated to an appetiser of sweetcorn and ginger foam with fresh chilli popcorn.  The flavours were perfectly amazing.

For entree Andrew had an Eclair of truffle mascarpone, mushroom duxelles, celeriac puree, brussel sprout leaves, roast hazelnut & honey vinaigrette…I tasted it, well I had to make sure it was ok didn’t’ I?  It melted in my mouth…lots of oohs an aahs going on!

For main we had the slow roasted lamb for two.  I don’t tend to eat a lot of meat but it just sounded so delicious so I when I suggested it to Andrew we decided to order it. Let me tell you, it was TO DIE FOR!  Slow roasted for 14hrs, served with a spiced pumpkin and feta gratin, cucumber and mint salad and roasting juices.  Is your mouth watering yet?

All of that deliciousness was accompanied by a bottle of Grenache…not a drop left over!

Oh, and I forgot to take a photo of dessert..but the empty plate gives you an idea of how delectable it was!  Spiced Date Savarin – Pedro Ximenez, crispy date, pistachio crumble served with spiced ice cream.  Again, TO DIE FOR!

and Andrew devoured the Knickerbocker Glory – a chocolate sponge, strawberry jelly, chocolate mousse, Chantilly cream and almond brittle.  He assures me it was every bit as tasty as it sounds.

Topped off very nicely with coffee.
